It created a Spring Passport initiative to mark the start of the new season.

“It’s been a long winter," said Lewes Chamber executive director Betsy Reamer. "And we decided that we wanted to offer something to celebrate the arrival of spring on March 20. And so one of our board members came up with this idea and jotted down a few ideas of things that people could do - most of them outside.”

Reamer says the passport lists 22 family-friendly activities. They include paddling the Canal, taking a stroll downtown to see the blooming tulips, taking flying a kite at Cape Henlopen State Park to fly kites and organizing a private beach clean up.

And people that check off at least 10 activities can then turn the passport in to the Chamber to be entered into a drawing for Lewes swag and gift certificates. It is on the honor system.

Reamer says three winners chosen on May 15 will be announced on May 17, 2021.

Passports are available at the Lewes Chamber Visitor Center, onlineand at many city businesses and restaurants.
