Stronger measures restricting access to state parks could be coming.
Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control says it wants to reduce crowds there during Gov. Carney’s State of Emergency.
State officials encourage the public to continue using the parks as long as they follow social distancing guidelines during their stay.
But DNREC Sec. Shawn Garvin says park staff have been told to look for people breaking the new rules.
“We want to be on record letting folks know we are looking to control numbers inside the park so we can give everyone a sake experience when they do come out,” said Garvin
Garvin says restrictions may be put in place or areas of state parks closed if visitors are observed not following social distancing rules.
Bathrooms remain closed at the parks, wildlife areas and boat ramps.
Delaware beaches are also closed except for exercise, dog walking and some restricted surf fishing.
Out-of-state visitors are required to quarantine for two weeks before visiting parks in Delaware.
