Wesley College to host first round NCAA football tourney game

Wesley College’s football team is headed NCAA Division III playoffs for a 12th straight year.

The 8-2 Wolverines will entertain Stevenson in a first round contest this Saturday.

Wesley has won its last 11 opening round contests and is 21-2 all-time at home in NCAA tourney games.

Stevenson is in the playoffs for the first time, just six years after launching its football program.  The champion of the Middle Atlantic Conference is 9-1 this season

Statistically, the teams are very similar.  The Wolverines average 38 points per game while allowing just 17.  The Mustangs score just under 37 points per game and yield only 17.

Saturday’s noon kick-off in Dover will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
