Wesley College is being honored as the top Division III football team in the East again this year.

The Metropolitan New York Football Writers' Association has awarded the Wolverines the Lambert Meadowlands Trophy for a second straight year.

The Wolverines went 11-2 this past season and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals before losing to Mount Union 56-35.

This is the sixth time in nine years Wesley has picked up the award given to the number one team in the East region.  Only Rowan and Ithaca have won it more often.  Rowan has won it 8 times and Ithaca has won it seven times and shared it once.

The team will officially be recognized February 25 at the Eastern College Football Awards Banquet at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.  Wesley’s senior quarterback Joe Callahan will also be honored at that event as the ECAC South region Division III Offensive Player of the Year.
