High expectations for Wesley football as it enters new conference

Wesley College’s football team may be new to the New Jersey Athletic Conference – but their reputation as a national power clearly precedes them.

The Wolverines were picked as the favorite to win the NJAC in a preseason poll of league coaches.

Wesley received nine of 10 first place votes.  The only other team to get a first place nod was 2014 league co-champ Rowan.

Wesley returns 13 starters from last year’s squad that went 12-2 advanced to the NCAA Division Three semifinals before losing to Mount Union.

The Wolverines also enter the season ranked fifth nationally in the D3Football.com preseason poll.

Wesley opens its season September 12th with a conference game at Frostburg State, another NJAC newcomer.  The Bobcats were picked sixth in the league’s preseason poll, but were named the conference’s “darkhorse” team.
