State business groups back Biden vaccine mandate

The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and the Delaware Business Roundtable back President Biden’s vaccine mandate for federal workers, large employers, and health care staff.

The mandate calls for the Labor Department to require all businesses with 100 or more employees to ensure their workers are vaccinated or tested once a week.

If they don’t comply, businesses could face thousands of dollars in fines.

The Delaware Chamber and Delaware Business Roundtable issued a joint statement supporting the Biden administration’s directive.

They say vaccinations and expanded testing are critical to defeating the pandemic, and they look forward to working with Gov. Carney “to expand vaccinations in Delaware’s business, government, and education communities.”

The groups also applauded the actions already taken by some local companies “to create healthy work environments to protect employees, their families, customers, and contractors from infection.”
