Delaware’s unemployment rate continued its decline for a second straight month in July after spiking along with the rest of the country earlier this year.
The Delaware Department of Labor reports a 10.4 percent jobless rate last month, down from 12.6 percent in June.
That’s still much higher than the 3.8 percent rate Delaware saw this time last year.
The First State also added about 8,700 jobs last month with the biggest gains in leisure & hospitality and retail. Delaware now reports a total of 422,100 nonfarm jobs statewide.
The national unemployment rate also dropped last month from 11.1 percent to 10.2 percent.
