The Small Business Administration’s Delaware District Office is looking for the First State’s top small businesses.

Nominations are being accepted for the annual Small Business Awards, honoring small businesses across the state.

SBA Delaware Director John Fleming says the state’s top small business will be recognized in conjunction with national Small Business Week

“Which we will celebrate in May. And it’s a local and national award. All nominations will compete on a state level and the top 50, the winner from all 50 states will be invited to Washington and one of them will then be selected as the National Small Business Person of the year; it’s real exciting,” said Fleming.

Local categories also include Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year, Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year, as well as Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Fleming says the SBA Awards nomination process has been simplified this year. He says completed SBA Award nominations consist of a completed SBA Award nomination form and SBA background form.

Local categories also include Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year, Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year, as well as Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Both of these forms are found online at the SBA website, which also has more information about the awards.
