DUI crackdown nets more arrests

Law enforcement made 88 DUI arrests last week in Delaware as part of their initiative to crack down on drunk drivers, according to the state's Office of Highway Safety.

11 of those were arrested at Checkpoint Strikeforce checkpoints over the Labor Day weekend.

It’s part of a crackdown on impaired driving, which kills and injures Delawareans nearly twice as often as violent crimes.

DUI checkpoints will run through New Year’s Eve 2014, with the next campaigns in Newark this Friday and Wilmington and Bethany Beach next weekend.

More than 2,800 people in the First State have been arrested for DUI since January 1st.
