DelDOT reports July 4th traffic brings significant toll dollars to Delaware

Swarms of holiday travelers made their way through First State's toll plazas this past Fourth of July weekend

Close to one million cars, trucks and motorcycles paid a price while heading to the beaches and other destinations to celebrate the holiday festivities. It's estimated that over $2.4 millions in tolls were collected over the four day period.

From Thursday, July 4th through Sunday, July 7th, 860,505 vehicles made their way through Delaware's three major toll plazas - I-95 in Newark, and Route 1 at Biddle's Corner and Dover.

The Newark plaza alone saw 383,000 vehicles pass through their gates, with the remainder nearly split between two plazas on Route 1.

DelDOT notes more than half of all motorists (57%) used the EZ pass to make their trips more convenient.

The exact breakdown at the three plazas for each day can be found below.
