Veterans who attend Del Tech’s Terry Campus in Dover and others living in the area, can visit the V-A Medical Center’s Mobile Outreach Clinic Thursday.";s:

Delaware Tech welcomes a mobile clinic for veterans to its Terry Campus in Dover this week.

The VA Medical Center’s Mobile Outreach Clinic pulls into Del Tech’s Dover campus Thursday to provide services to the college’s student veterans, as well as other veterans in the community.

“It’s a great opportunity where some of the services that the VA Medical Center provides, they actually have a really nice, I call it a van but it’s larger than that, that travels around the community and makes various stops so that people who aren’t able to make it up to to the VA Medical Center, can still get some of the services they need and then also kind of initiate the process of maybe establishing some care,” said John Panter, public relations manager for Del Tech’s Terry Campus.

Painter says the Mobile Clinic offers veterans primary care services, including physicals and management of acute and chronic illnesses.  It also provides flu and pneumonia vaccines.

Painter says the college serves hundreds of student veterans each year, so bringing the clinic to this campus makes sense.

“One aspect is that we do want to provides services to our student veterans. We pride ourselves on being a military-friendly school and want to provide the best services we can to those veterans, but we also want to help those out in the community as well. And they are certainly welcome to come up to the Mobile Clinic, which does operate on a walk-in basis; you can schedule an appointment if you need it,” Painter said.

The Mobile Clinic will set up in the parking lot directly in front of the Terry Building between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can also be made by calling (302) 250-2991 or (302) 932-3777.
