Two extra concerts this year at the Delaware State Fairgrounds

Delaware Public Media

The Delaware State Fair will host two additional concerts in 2018 outside of the fair’s regular 10 day stretch in July.

The venue is the Quillen Arena—which fair officials are rebranding “the Q.”

The first concert  is June 2nd and will feature Kane Brown—a country music artist who has garnered attention through social media. State Fair Assistant GM Danny Aguilar says they booked him after receiving a flood of requests on the State Fair’s social media pages.

“We anticipate the tickets for Kane Brown to go real fast,” said Aguilar.

Tickets go on sale  Friday, February 2nd at 10 a.m.

The fair itself is scheduled for July 19th through the 28th, and another concert at the Q will follow later this fall, but an artist for that event has yet to be announced.

The Q is a covered open-air arena on the fairgrounds in Harrington. Aguilar says its events will have a festival feel to them.

“For this particular concert with Kane Brown, we’re going to feature food trucks. We’re going to have some beer gardens set up. It’s going to be kind of a GA standing area with a VIP pit,” said Aguilar.

Aguilar adds more promoters are expressing interest in booking shows at the Q, and Delawareans might see more and more events at the venue in years to come.
