State fair concert lineup packed with country music

Delaware Public Media

The Delaware State Fair has announced this year’s concert series lineup ... and it’s got plenty for country fans.

The lineup is so packed with country musicians they’re scheduled before it even starts on Thursday, July 20.

“We’re actually going to have a kick off concert before the fair starts on Wednesday, July 19 with Jon Pardi and Chris Lane,” said Danny Aguilar, assistant general manager for the fair.

He said there seems to be unmet demand for the music since summertime country music festivals Big Barrel and Delaware Junction called it quits in recent years.

This year’s concert lineup will feature four country headliners, which is up from from three last year.

Darius Rucker and the Rascall Flatts will be headlining the M&T Bank Grandstand Sunday and Tuesday night, respectively.

Billboard-topping country star Brantley Gilbert will close out the concert series on the last Saturday of the 10-day fair.

But this year’s lineup isn’t all country. It’ll feature many of the favorite sports you’ve come to expect, including a demolition derby, harness racing, a Monster Truck Meltdown and a PRCA rodeo.

You can also catch comedian Gabriel Iglesia, AKA “Fluffy.” Or you can take a slow ride with 70’s rockers Foghat while you attend the fair's craft beer festival.

The Delaware State Fair runs from Thursday, July 20 to Saturday, July 29.
