Newark's search for City Manager to continue

The City of Newark’s search for a new City Manager will take a bit longer.

Neither of the two recently identified finalists is being offered the job.

City Manager candidates Vincent Jones and Mark Reeter held a public meet-and-greet this week, and advanced to a final round of interviews with City Council Wednesday.

Following a special meeting Thursday, City Council decided not to make an offer to either candidate.

According to city officials, members of Council will ask current interim staff if they would like to continue filling in.

The city expects to advertise the position of City Manager again later this year.

City officials say Council members appreciated the two candidates’ responsiveness during the interview process, and wish them the best with future endeavors.
