Attendance was up 10 percent at the Delaware State Fair this year.
287,632 people packed into the fairgrounds in Harrington during the fair’s 10 day run.
According to officials, that’s a big rebound over last year when dangerously hot weather kept attendance down.
Last year, we had 7 days of excessive heat. This year was kind of a mixture - it started off a little warm and we were fortunate enough with 4-5 days of great, cooperative weather," said Danny Aguilar, marketing director for the Delaware State Fair.
For the second straight year the fair kicked off with a country concert the night before doors officially opened.
In addition to rides and games, livestock competitions dominated the events this year with more than 3 thousand goats, pigs, sheep, horses, camels and a pair of giraffes gracing the fairgrounds.
Next year’s dates have already been announced. The fair will run from Thursday July 29 - Saturday July 28, 2018.
