Milford pain management doc accused of unlawful prescription of opioids

Delaware Public Media

A Milford doctor is being charged with using his pain management clinic as a pill mill.

The indictment of Dr. Patrick Titus, who owns Lighthouse Internal Medicine, is part of what the U.S. Department of Justice is calling the largest ever health care fraud enforcement action.

The DOJ is charging more than 600 individuals nationwide for their alleged roles in health care fraud schemes involving more than $2 billion in false billing.

This includes 76 doctors charged with distributing more than 13 million doses of illegal opioids.

Titus is charged with 14 counts of unlawful distribution and dispensing of controlled substances and one count of maintaining a drug-involved premise.

The Prescription Monitoring Program reports during a year and a half period Titus wrote more than 25,000 prescriptions for more than two million dosage units of Oxycodone products.
