Many schools downstate still closed Tuesday while ice causes closings, delays in NCCo and Kent

Roads in Sussex County still haven’t fully recovered from last week's snow storm,  so a number of school districts are telling students to stay home again Tuesday.

Cape Henlopen, Delmar, Indian River, Laurel, Seaford, Sussex Tech and Woodbridge School Districts are closed to students.  Cape Henlopen says employees should reports 2 hours late.  Indian River employees are asked to arrive at their usual time.  Laurel, Seaford, and Sussex Tech are asking employees to arrive at 10 am.

And after last night’s freezing rain in the northern half of the state, there are closings and delayed openings.

In New Castle County, Brandywine, Christina, Colonial, New Castle County Vo-tech and Red Clay School Districts now are closed.  Appoquinimink will open 2 hours late.

In Central Delaware, Capital, Caesar Rodney, Lake Forest, Milford and Smyrna School Districts are two hours late. Polytech School District is closed.

The icy conditions have also prompted the University of Delaware to delay opening at its main campus and other New Castle Co. sites until 10 am. Delaware Tech’s Stanton and Wilmington campuses will open at 10 am.
