97th Delaware State Fair starts Thursday

Delaware Public Media

The 97th annual Delaware State Fair kicks off this Thursday at noon in Harrington.

You’ll find all the rides, attractions and foods you’ve come to expect at the fair, according to Danny Aguilar, assistant general manager for the Delaware State Fair. Plus some new additions.

“We’re actually going to have the food network here and they’re going to be filming their popular show Carnival Eats. So there are a few vendors who are waiting to develop some special dishes for them. So we’re waiting to get those menu options,” Aguilar said.

There are plenty of misting stations and air conditioned buildings if you’re worried about the heat. You’re also welcome to bring your own bottled water if it’s in a plastic container.

The entertainment series kicks off Wednesday night with a concert by Jake Owen. Other acts include Blues Traveler, George Thorogood and and comedian Jeff Denham.

This year’s fair will also feature a demolition derby, harness racing, a monster truck show and a beer and wine festival.

Aguilar recommends downloading the mobile app to help plan your trip.

The fair runs through Saturday, July 30.
